Avanee Purandare

Avanee is a Research Facilitator the “Multi-Scalar Dimensions of Sectoral Water Conflicts through the Lens of Water Security” project supported by ERC (European Research Council). She is a lawyer and researcher with an interest in human rights, climate and gender justice and experience working across grassroots spaces in the development sector. Her roles have spanned research, legal aid, advocacy, and capacity-building - particularly with marginalized communities. She has previously coordinated a gender-based violence intervention project in rural Himachal Pradesh, managing a team of social workers and setting up women’s courts and conducting legal awareness trainings for women, children, and law enforcement. With an LLM in Law and Development, her work reflects a strong commitment to advancing justice and bringing about transformational change.
